About this Event
About the book:
Lucky, Lucky People is a beautifully tangled, witty, and emotionally astute novel about midlife crises, creative ambition, fractured families, and the hope of starting over. Set in the San Francisco Bay Area, it follows a cast of interconnected characters-a disillusioned coach, a viral busboy, a conflicted entrepreneur, a self-sabotaging artist, and the partners who orbit (or manage) them-as they navigate breakups, breakdowns, and unexpected second chances.
With humor, heart, and unflinching insight, the novel explores what happens when the lives we've built start to fall apart-and how we begin again.
After retiring from a corporate writing career, Holly Larsen has turned to fiction. In her new novel, Lucky, Lucky People, Holly delves into the ups and downs of modern relationships, exploring the interconnected misadventures of four couples living in the San Francisco Bay island city of Alameda. Her previous novel, Sisters, Plural, is roughly based on the romance between her Mormon greatgrandparents just after the turn of the 20th century. When not writing, Holly likes to read, cook, take walks throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and hang out with friends and family, particularly her two gifted and talented grandchildren
