Historic Lewes will be hosting their annual Holiday Village & Market in conjunction with the Holiday House Tour of Lewes, offering a festive atmosphere, bringing together artisan vendors, local farms, greenery sales and historic interpreters as part of the Lewes Historical Society’s First Friday celebrations. The event spans two days, providing visitors with a wide array of unique shopping and holiday experiences.
The festivities begin on Friday evening, December 5, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. During this time, a select group of artists will be showcasing and selling their creations. This marks the start of the December First Friday celebrations hosted by the Society.
On Saturday, December 6, the Holiday Village & Market continues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., expanding to include local farm vendors alongside artisans. Attendees can explore offerings from a variety of farms and specialty producers including Backyard Jams & Jellies, Baybees Honey, Derby Mill Farm, Four Acres Living, Epiron Olive Oil, Gather Alfajores, Nancy James Oysters, Reinke Lavendar Farm, Clare Shockley’s Nut Brittle, and Be Salty’s amazing bread, among others.
Handcrafted products such as candles, knitwear, jewelry, driftwood artwork, paper book art, glass pieces, and paintings will once again be for sale. Freddies Barn will feature greenery and festive decorations for the holidays, while the ladies of the Z-Club will host their annual sale in the schoolhouse. Historic interpreters will roam the grounds, and nearby, local baby alpacas will be at the event to visit with.
Come early to purchase your holiday decorations and greenery being sold in Freddies Barn! Delicious food will be served on campus by Mr. B’s Kitchen. Historic Lewes will be opening a select number of properties that will be decorated for the season including the popular Sussex Tavern and the Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate House.
Admission is free, and all are welcome! Artisan vendors include Salt Town Trading, The Folding Fanatic, Coastal Creations, J’Adorn Designs, Delaware Bay Clay, Dirndl Lederhosen Haus, Tony McKee Art, Living in Glass Houses, BPK Photography and holiday creations by Sally King Shananhan.
