Those interested in:
- design & sculpting jewelry
- exploring the tools and process for lost wax
- challenging yourself with a new medium
What & why?
This workshop will involve:
- An introduction to materials and application of tools
- Design process, apply your creativity and/or be guided in doing so with prompt-led play
- A focus on RINGS
- You have (1.5) gram of wax to work with and sculpt down to (1) gram.
*(1) gram of carving wax will cast to approximately (15.58) grams of silver

Definitions:
cast: an object made by shaping molten metal or similar material in a mold
casting: refers to the process of pouring molten metal into a mold to create a solid object.
sculpting: refers to the process of shaping or carving material (such as wax) to create artistic forms
lost wax" process: is a method of metal casting where a wax model is incased in a disposable ceramic mold. When heated, the wax melts away, leaving a cavity that is filled with molten metal to create the final object.
medium in this context: Medium refers to the material or substances used by artists to create their work. In this workshop, the medium refers to wax used for sculpting and casting jewelry.
