For some, the spooky season stretches far beyond Halloween. Looking to historic records and tales of “the old ways” reveals a stunning reversal in how we once celebrated autumn, winter, and the creatures of the seasons.
This talk, presented by Emily Curtis, will explore long-ago monsters and midwinter lore of the Icelandic Yule Cat, the Alpine Krampus, La Befana of Italy, the German Perchten, and many of their mischievous friends.
Due to the content of this lecture, this event is intended for audiences 14 years of age or older. For younger patrons, parental discretion is strongly advised.
