Are you looking for a unique gift for someone special? Do you have gift or ornament exchanges coming up? Do you need a fantastic piece of art to decorate your home or workplace? If you answer yes to any of these questions, and you like to support the work of local artists and their charitable programs, then the Art League of Baytown’s 73rd Annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Gift Gallery is a must see. The Gift Gallery opens November 28th at 11 am, at the Art Center of Baytown, located at 110 W. Texas Avenue in Baytown, and is open for 4 weeks.
The Gift Gallery is a long-standing tradition that started before the Art League was even an official organization. Originally a small group of artists would meet at each other’s homes to paint together, socialize, and support one another. One year they decided to host the first Arts and Crafts Gift Gallery in hopes of selling some of their artwork for the holidays. And that was the start of what became an annual tradition and the catalyst to form the Art League of Baytown. So now, each year, in addition to the wonderful art that is always available at the Art Center, local artists and creatives set up impressive displays of hand-crafted gift items, holiday décor and more for the Art League of Baytown’s Holiday Arts & Crafts Gift Gallery. From stocking stuffers to impressive gifts, and a nice selection for your ornament and gift exchanges, prices start at just $5. Something for everyone and every budget.
A portion of all sales go toward funding programs such as the Rising Stars art class for special needs adults and arts and crafts workshops for the Breast Cancer Support Group at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital.
The Holiday Arts & Crafts Gift Gallery opens November 28th and continues through December 27th. The Art Center is located at 110 W. Texas Avenue in Baytown and is open to the public Thursday through Saturday, 11-5.
And in December, the Art Center will be open additional days and hours:
- Sunday, November 30th (Artists Sunday) - Meet the Artists Special Event - 1-5 pm
- Tuesday, December 2nd - 5-7 pm
- Thursday, December 4th - Open late during the Parade (5-8ish)
- Saturday, December 6th - Open early in conjunction with the Christmas on Texas Avenue Festival - 10am-5pm
- Sunday, December 7th -Jingle & Mingle Market (additional featured vendors) 12-6 pm
- Sunday, December 14th - 1-5 pm
- Sunday December 21st - 1-5 pm
