About this Event
The San Francisco Neo-Futurists invite you to join us for a brand-new, full-length Neo-Futurist show: HOLE.
HOLE is an experimental theater piece by Amy Langer and Bahaar Taj in collaboration with the San Francisco Neo-Futurists. Set at the beach, HOLE revolves around the act of literally digging a large hole in the ground—a simple yet profound action that symbolizes human obsession, compulsion, and perseverance. A play without a fourth wall (or, in fact, any walls), HOLE asks the audience: What needs to be done for you to take up the shovel?
As a production of the SF Neo-Futurists, HOLE embraces and extends the Neo-Futurist aesthetic principles of immediacy, authenticity, and making the stage into an extension of daily life. Performers will play themselves, not characters; the show's outdoor setting will be acknowledged and incorporated into the show; and the audience will be called upon to be active participants with voices of their own. The SF Neo-Futurists have created theatre by these principles for over 12 years in their flagship weekly show The Infinite Wrench, earning Best of the Bay multiple years and being named one of "22 San Francisco things everyone must do" by the SF Chronicle.
___
HOLE will run the first three Sundays in September, at 2:00 PM & 5:00 PM each date, at a MUNI-accessible outdoor SF location. Exact site will be shared with RSVP—a few days before the event, you will receive an email with further instructions about location and what to bring to the show.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds (NOTAFLOF), but space is limited and we will be requiring all attendees to RSVP. To request a NOTAFLOF ticket, please email [email protected].
The performance will last approximately one hour. We HOLE-p to see you there!
