Hannibal-LaGrange University invites the community to attend the annual HLGU Music Department Christmas Concert on Friday, December 5, at 7 p.m. in the Roland Fine Arts Center.
This festive celebration of the season will feature performances by the HLGU Concert Choir, under the direction of Elaine Carty, the HLGU Orchestra and Band, under the direction of Allen Means, and the HLGU Chamber Choir.
The concert will open with selections by the Concert Choir, including two pieces directed by Katelyn Browning, a Music Education major, in partial fulfillment of her degree requirements:
• Frozen Choral Suite – Arr. Roger Emerson
• Northern Lights – Ola Gjeilo

Additional Concert Choir selections include:
• Children, Go Where I Send Thee – Arr. Adam Podd
• Hark! The Herald Angels Sing – Tim Bandy

The HLGU Chamber Choir will present the following pieces as part of their Fall 2025 Chamber Choir Concert Program:
• Masters in This Hall – French Christmas Carol, Arr. Richard Oliver
• Sing We Noel – Patricia Wilhelm
• We Three Kings – J. H. Hopkins, Arr. Darmon Meader
• Good Christian Men, Rejoice – Traditional German, Arr. Alice Parker and Robert Shaw

The HLGU Band will perform several festive instrumental works, including:
• A Royal Christmas – Arr. Harry Stone
• Fantasy for Christmas – Arr. Jim Curnow
• The Bells of Christmas – Arr. Bob Krogstad
• Let Earth Receive Her King – Arr. Jeff Cranfill

The evening will conclude with a grand finale as the HLGU Band and Concert Choir join together for the beloved “Hallelujah Chorus” from Messiah by G.F. Handel, transposed by Clair Johnson.
