About this Event
Join us for engaging and informative training on HIV awareness.
The session is aimed primarily at professionals who work in health, social care, and support settings. We kindly ask for one attendee per organisation to ensure broad access.
During the session we will:
- clarify the differences between HIV and AIDS, and define these terms, along with other commonly used HIV-related language.
- explain HIV prevention and transmission
- provide information on treatment
- explore HIV stigma and prejudice, the harm this can do, and ways to address it
- outline information about testing
- inform participants of support available locally and nationally
- talk about best practice when working with those living with or affected by HIV
We’ll also be joined by a person living with HIV, who will share their personal story and experiences. This is a powerful part of the training and can help you better understand what it is like to live with HIV today.
There is free on street parking and the building is fully accessible. The training will run from 10am - midday but please arrive for 9.45, so we can start promptly at 10am.
We look forward to seeing you there!
