SPEAKERS
Alex Jenkins
Alex is a seasoned technology expert and Director of the WA Data Science Innovation Hub (WADSIH), with over 15 years of experience in advancing data science and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. A fervent proponent of fostering strong partnerships among the education sector, government, and industry, Alex is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of STEM professionals and propelling Australia's tech workforce forward. In earlier roles, Alex has worked as a data science manager, a solution lead on BHP’s data science platform, and prior to this worked on many applications of data and analytics in the mining and engineering areas, as well as consulting in the health services domain.
Madelene Kawitzki + Chathu Jayawardena,
Madelene is the WA Client Executive for Leaders IT, and is dedicated to developing diverse and early career professionals through capacity development graduate programs. Madelene has spent the past 5 years managing the IT recruitment for large enterprise clients including Rio Tinto, BHP, Bankwest, and Curtin University. Prior to entering tech recruitment, Madelene worked in IT Research programs at Gartner, managing professional development programs for CIO and CSCOs in the UK and US. Beyond early career development, Madelene also assists data science major international students with securing employer sponsorship and permanent residency.
Chathu has 14 years of IT recruitment industry experience, and manages Federal and WA State Government IT recruitment. Over the past 5 years, Chathu has grown Peoplebank to become the largest IT recruitment supplier to WA government, and has helped countless tech grads get their first start. She was also nominated for the Women in Technology WA (WiTWA) awards for the community work she has done to help graduates develop early in their careers.
