Join us at Moseley Old Hall for a series of pop-up talks led by one of our knowledgeable volunteers, celebrating International Women’s Day with the stories of two remarkable women from the 17th century.Jane Lane - 10:30am & 12:30pm
Jane Lane of Bentley Hall looks back on her life and the dramatic change in 1651 following her assistance to Charles II on his flight after the Battle of Worcester. From a sheltered childhood, she finds herself a fugitive, an exile and finally enjoying a return to England upon the restoration of his Majesty and the rewards that follow.
Catherine of Braganza - 11:30am & 2pm
Catherine of Braganza was the Portuguese princess who married Charles II. She largely features in the history books due to her inability to provide her husband with an heir. This talk aims to present a little more about her life, and her , perhaps somewhat surprising, impact on the UK.
Each talk will last approximately 20 minutes.
No extra cost for talks, normal admission costs apply, no booking required but spaces are limited.
