About Doug and Aliso: Doug Heath and Alison Simcox coauthored Middlesex Fells, The Lost Mill Village of Middlesex Fells, A Trail Guide for Bellevue Pond, Pine Hill, and the Quarries of Middlesex Fells, A Trail Guide to Virginia Wood and Haywardville, Breakheart Reservation, M**der at Breakheart Hill Farm, and Lake Quannapowitt. Besides writing local history books, they enjoy biking, kayaking, hiking and snowshoeing.

About the Walk: Join us as we explore the history, geology and natural environment of Bellevue Pond, Pine Hill and the 19th-century quarries of Middlesex Fells. We will look at the Works Progress Administration's development of the pond, climb up Pine Hill to Wright's Tower, Lovers Rock and see a magnificent view of Boston. We will also explore the old quarries that provided rock for the stone mansions of Spot Pond, Medford, Mt. Auburn Cemetery and the walkways of the Boston Common.

Boots are the recommended footwear. We encourage you to arrive early, as the Bellevue Pond Parking Lot can be full at times. Please note, there are no restrooms are available at this location.

Signed copies of our books and trail guides will be available for purchase after the tour at discount prices.
