Saddle up! On September 29th at 7 am, the team sets off on horseback from Donner Memorial State Park, retracing the legendary 1844 Horseback Party of Six of the Stephens-Townsend-Murphy Party. We’ll ride 120 miles to Auburn in five days, following in the actual hoofprints of history. After a year and a half of digging through old diaries, maps, and more, we’ve uncovered new clues about their journey—some that might even rewrite the story! In the end, all members of the Party survived, propelling this to become one of the world’s greatest survival stories…that few have ever heard of…until now.Come early, beginning at 5:00, to enjoy Crooked Lane’s special Survivors and Heroes craft brew and food options. Ticket sales begin at 6:00, and the event will start at 7:00. This will be a most entertaining evening about a remarkable American West story, inspiring people and breathtaking imagery of the Sierra, as the Team’s discoveries unfold through the stories and captured images and film.
Picnic tables and other seating are available, or you are welcome to bring your own chairs.
