About this Event
Walk Leader: Erik Backstrom - Urban Designer
Date & Time: Saturday, May 2nd, 2:00 - 3:30 PM (Approx. 1.5km)
Description: Edmonton's heritage landscape is typically painted in the bold strokes of red brick, remnants of our pre-World War I past. But a fascinating counterpoint exists in Bonnie Doon: a collection of mid-century buildings defined by their lighter, buff brick facades. What sparked this architectural departure? What does it reveal about this chapter in the city's development? Join planner and planning historian Erik Backstrom for this walk, which will include a tour of the architectural gem that is the Bonnie Doon Stake Centre.
Location: Meet in front of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (9010 85 St NW)
