You are invited to Atlanta Historic Dance's Historical Dance Soiree and Tea! What: A tea followed by beginning to advanced level 18th and 19th century dance. Historical costumes from any time period are preferred. Modern, modest formal attire is acceptable.
When: Sunday, August 17th, 4:00-8:15 pm
Where: Hawkins Hall at Decatur Legacy Park, 500 S. Columbia Dr. Decatur, GA 30030
Who: Open to those with at least some dance experience. Those without dance experience are welcome to attend and join in the beginning level dances. Please enjoy the more advanced dances from the side. Non-dancers are welcome to attend and enjoy the dancing from the sidelines.
Cost: $15.00 per person and a finger food to share (see Signup Genius below)
SCHEDULE:
3:30 pm - Set up
4:00 pm - Tea begins
4:45 pm - Put away most of the tables to clear dancing space
5:00 pm - First set of dancing
6:30 pm - Intermission
7:00 pm - Second set of dancing
8:15 pm - Soiree concludes; pack items and clean up
9:00 pm - Hawkins Hall must be vacated

Space is limited so make haste! The cutoff for payments will be 8/13/25. No payments will be accepted at the door. After making a payment, send an email to [email protected] listing the names of the people in your party and which method you used to pay:

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
- No refunds. If you are unable to attend, your payment can go towards a dance class or next year's Soiree.
- Guests limited to age 16 and up
- Decatur Legacy Park is ADA accessible. A table will be reserved for those with mobility issues.
- The entrance to Hawkins Hall is located in the back of the columned building.
- Arrive early and take advantage of the photo ops in front of the building and 30 feet away at the stone chapel or lake. Model, Dizzy Gypsy Pinup
- Upon arrival, give your name at the front table to be checked in.
-Restrooms are located by the entrance. There is an additional large bathroom on the other side of the ballroom. Please reserve this for the ladies for dressing.
- The space will be set up with tables and chairs for tea. Afterward, most of the tables will be put away to make room for dancing.
- A pot of tea will be placed on each table and can be refilled at the tea dispenser located on the beverage table.
- Feel free to bring a cup and saucer as well as something to stash it in, such as a basket while dancing. There will be extra teacups to lend for those who don't have one.
- Each set of dancing will begin with two beginner-friendly dances and then move up to intermediate and advanced levels.
- No dancer partner needed. Dancers will be partnered up before each dance.
- Volunteers are needed to decorate and help with event planning. Email Steve Maddern for details at [email protected].
- By attending this event, you agree to be photographed and videoed during the Soiree. You also agree that dancing has certain dangers. You agree to dance at your own risk and not hold Chris Wilson and Kat Nagar responsible for any injuries you may suffer. Stiletto high heels are strongly discouraged and trains on dresses must be bustled up.
