This beginner's class presents a unique opportunity to learn early American theorem painting, a historical art form created with stencils and admired for its aesthetic appeal. Led by Peggy Allen, an experienced theorem instructor, attendees will create an 8.5 x 11 portrait of a traditional bowl of fruit using multiple stencils and oil paints applied with brushes onto a cotton velveteen surface.
This class will feature a display of theorem paintings from various artists, including David Ellinger of Trappe, along with a discussion of theorem painting's historical context.
This workshop is designed for all skill levels.
