About this Event
Hip-Hop meets Dancehall Workshop is an Afro-Caribbean and Hip-Hop movement MASHUP of music, community ritual, social dance, and FIYAH energy led by Leyda "ProFeSOL" Garcia!
We will explore the riddims and street dances of Jamaica at the intersection of American Hip-Hop music from artists such as Wyclef Jean, Nicki Minaj, and Foxy Brown (all whom are of Caribbean descent).
Make a date to dance every Friday this fall from 10:30 AM to 12 PM!
From September 27 through and including November 22, 2024 new instructors every week, drawn from Chicago’s wealth of dance talent, visiting artists, and exceptional students lead this sampler series of a kaleidoscope of techniques, styles and approaches.
All classes take place in the Dance Center theater and movers at all levels are welcome.
