Hindustani Classical Vocal Concert
An evening of profound melody and timeless traditiion, presenting the meditative depth and expressive beauty of Hidustani Vocal music.
Vocal: Sanhita Nandi has performed across the globe at premier classical music festivals and concert platforms. Her vocal style is deeply rooted in the Kirana Gharana, characterized by the expressive exploration of raga through slow, meditative tempos, intricate melodic passages, and refined Merukhand patterns. Her music emphasizes subtle raga nuances, aesthetic grace notes, and solfege articulation enriched with traditional ornamentations. She was shortlisted for the 88th Academy Awards (Oscars) and has been honored with several prestigious accolades in India, including the Pride of Bharat Award and the Sangeet Bhushan Award.
Tabla: Sri Amod Dandawate is a renowned tabla artist specializing in the Farrukhabad style, with early training from his father, Dr. Vasantrao Dandawate, and advanced tutelage under Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pt. Samir Chatterjee since 2001. An accomplished soloist and accompanist with an active international career, he also holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, reflecting his strong academic and artistic grounding.
Harmonium: Sri Vivek Datar is a Bay Area–based harmonium artist trained in both solo and accompaniment under Gwalior Gharana vocalist Pt. Vinayakrao Kale and currently under the guidance of Vidushi Seema Shirodkar. Deeply interested in tuning theory, he co‑developed an innovative changeable‑reed harmonium with Mumbai’s Hinge Brothers and is a sought‑after accompanist for many respected artists, in addition to being an active teacher.
