Join us for an evening of Hindustani Classical music!

Hindustani classical music, with its various ragas and melodies, brings in a lot of calm and relaxation, along with plenty of thrills along the way. We will hear various bhajans and thumris, two popular vocal forms.

Madhurranjan will be performing 2 ragas, most likely Kalavati and Bihag or Jog, and a few semi classical compositions including Haveli Sangeet, Bhajans, and Abhangs. He will be accompanied by Shri Amod Dandawate ji on tabla and Shri Paritosh Katre on harmonium

The emotions that are experienced during a Hindustani concert are not easily matched by any other forms of music.

Madhurranjan Mohaan (vocals) is an engineer by morning and an aspiring musician after that. He tries to be a good human being most of the time though. Madhurranjan runs a non profit classical organization called Sangeethaamsha (https://www.sangeethaamsha.com/) to spread the magic of classical music and an Indian classical based fusion band Bayraagis (@BayRaagis) to again spread the magic of classical music. Madhurranjan was initiated into Hindustani classical music at the age of 6 by his uncle, late Flute master B.N Suresh ji. He trained for about 7 years before taking a break. He has continued to learn Hindustani music for the last 8 years under the tutelage of Mewati Gharana guru Smt Lalita Sharma, a renowned disciple of Pt Jasraj ji.

Amod Dandawate (tabla) is a dedicated tabla artist specializing in the Farrukhabad style. His musical journey began with early exposure to tabla through his father, Late Dr. Vasantrao Dandawate, and after completing his engineering degree, he pursued the art form through other acclaimed teachers. He has been under the tutelage of Pt. Samir Chatterjee for over a decade, receiving intensive training in the guru-shishya tradition. Amod is a sought-after accompanist, having supported numerous major artists from India and the US. He is also actively involved in teaching and promoting Indian classical music in the tri-state area, and now Bay area. Apart from his musical achievements, Amod also holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering.

Paritosh Katre (harmonium) is a multi‑instrumentalist, composer, and singer with a background in both Western and Hindustani Classical Music. He regularly performs and collaborates with renowned artists across the San Francisco Bay Area. Together with his father, he has co‑created Geet Dnyaneshwari, a experimental musical project where they have composed over fifty original compositions inspired by the poetry of Sant Dnyaneshwar. Beyond music, he works as a Machine Learning Scientist at PayPal.
