For more than a century fire lookouts have been an important tool to spot and report wildfires. Many of those lookouts are long-gone, but some that remain make for great hiking destinations. In this one-hour presentation at the Redmond Library, Cheryl Hill will talk about her new book Hiking Oregon’s Fire Lookouts, highlight some of the best lookout hikes around the state, share some stories from her quest to visit every standing lookout in the state, and talk about how to rent a lookout. A Q&A will follow the presentation.
