Accommodation: Plas Pencelli Outdoor Education Centre
For next year's trip we have booked Plas Pencelli Outdoor Education Centre in the village of Pencelli, which is situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The area offers excellent walking opportunities, including waterfalls and hills, and the accommodation provides easy access to Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales.
Please Note:
As with other Hike Essex holidays, you must be a fully paid member of the Ramblers at the time of the trip in order to attend this weekend away
Accommodation
The hostel-style accommodation is on a shared basis in same sex bunk rooms with shared, same sex bathrooms. Bed linen is provided but you will need to bring your own towel.
Walks
Walks will be offered on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. These will be either circular or linear walks utilising local transport or car sharing as required.
Food
Breakfast (toast/cereal) and packed lunches (sandwiches/snacks) will be provided, as will evening meals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday There will be an option to order pizza on Thursday evening, when we arrive. Vegetarian and vegan options are available on request. As with all weekends away, we will need everyone to pitch in and help with preparing meals and clearing up afterwards.
Travel
You will need to make your own arrangements for travel to Pencelli. Please consider car-sharing if possible.
Cost
The cost of the weekend, including accommodation and food as outlined above, is £160 per person. There may be some additional costs such as car parking or public transport, depending on walk selection.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Please email [email protected] to register and receive payment details. A deposit of £80 must be paid to the Hike Essex account as soon as possible to secure your place, while the remaining balance must be paid no later than 5th February 2026.
Regrettably, we will be unable to offer a refund unless your place is taken by someone else.
