Hike and Draw is a chance to come together with a group who value creativity and the magic found in nature’s nooks and crannies. We follow a gentle circular route, pausing often for sketch-booking and moments of observation along the way.There’s time to get curious about flora, fungi, geology, and the stories held in the land, with no pressure to “make good art” - just to notice, explore, and respond. Events are seasonally focused, helping us root into the time of year and notice what’s shifting and emerging around us. Hike and Draw is about slowing down, unwinding, and regulating nervous systems through movement, connection and creativity. Think of it as self-care, with fresh air, a pencil in hand, and some good chatter.
The route:
Join us for a relaxing countryside walk exploring the Cam Valley area along the Limestone Link, passing hidden valleys and tranquil reservoirs. A slow, creative walk celebrating spring in full motion, with fresh growth, birdsong and lengthening days.
We’ll begin at Hinton Blewett, setting out through quiet lanes and fields as we head towards East Harptree and on to the village of Litton. The route trails through rolling Mendip countryside, weaving between historic villages, wooded dips and open farmland, with gentle climbs leading to Prospect Stile.
Expect wide, open views across the Chew and Yeo valleys towards the Bristol Channel, with landscapes shaped by fossil-rich Jurassic limestone and clay, creating distinctive grassland and valley habitats.
This hike offers a peaceful yet varied walk - rich in natural and geological interest, revealing ancient marine landscapes, traditional stone villages and far reaching viewpoints looking out to the north of the Mendip Hills.
