The Highlander MTB Challenge returns on 31 May 2026 - an iconic mid-year ride through Rotorua’s world-class trails, where adventure meets the finish line.Starting under the rising steam of Te Puia and flowing straight into the legendary singletrack of Whakarewarewa Forest, Highlander delivers the kind of riding that makes Rotorua famous. With three distances to choose from, Highlander offers a challenge for every rider:
🚵 Short Course (10–15km)
A fun, confidence-building mission for new riders or anyone keen for a quick forest adventure.
🚵♀️ Mid Course (25–35km)
A solid, rewarding ride that blends flow, climbing, and classic Rotorua goodness.
🚵♂️ Long Course (60–70km)
The big day out. A trail-lover’s dream packed with singletrack, scenery, and the satisfaction of earning that finish line.
