🌟This Sunday, April 28th, we are presenting Awareness and Acceptance for #𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀𝘀🤍
🌟Shadow Work Series Part 1: Awareness and Acceptance.
🌟The psychologist Carl Jung popularized the idea of the shadow self, or inner shadow. He defined the collective unconscious with eight different Jungian archetypes: Self, Shadow, Anima, Animus, Persona, Hero, Wise Old Man, and Trickster.
🌟In this workshop, we go over the first two archetypes: Self and Shadow.
🌟We go deeper into why awareness is key to acceptance. The more we work with acceptance, the more we understand that it has a necessary antecedent – awareness. We cannot begin to accept that which we are completely unaware.
🌟How do we build awareness? You might already practice this by keeping a journal or writing morning pages; doing meditation or yoga. The first part of our workshop focuses on Awareness – what it is, why it’s helpful (especially for acceptance) and practical ways to build it for ourselves.
🌟What is Acceptance? It's living in reality, acknowledging life on life’s terms. Some might interpret this as just giving up. Not so, as Jon Kabat-Zinn tells us. Acceptance is “...quite the opposite. It takes a huge amount of fortitude and motivation to accept what is - especially when you don’t like it...” Once acceptance is achieved, transformational change is possible. Acceptance is the focus for the second part of our workshop. We look at what it is, why it’s helpful and ways to practice it.
#𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀🤍 is a project to dive deeper into the self to make big changes, take leaps, uncover blockages, and heal in CommUnity.
