Hidden Harm Research Document LaunchAbout this Event
On 26th March the Canals Community Local Drugs and Alcohol Task forcewill be launching our research report ‘Hidden Harm in the Canal’s Communities – A roadmap for future action’. This is a vital and meticulously researched piece of work highlighting the impact of Hidden Harm in these communities as well as offering us a roadmap to address the needs described in this research.
The term, Hidden Harm, is a summary term, used to characterise the experience of children and young people living with, and affected by, parental problem alcohol and other drug use. The overall purpose of this research has been to:
· Understand Hidden Harm and its impact on children and young people in the Canal Communities
· Use information gathered from the research to create a shared clear strategy for addressing Hidden Harm across the communities of Bluebell, Inchicore and Rialto.
The research has been commissioned by an interagency working group, operating under the leadership of the Rialto Community Drug Team, Bluebell Youth Project, Core Youth Service and Rialto Youth Project. Other interagency partners have included bodies such as Barnardo’s, Frontline, the Canal Communities Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force (LDATF), Tusla and the HSE.
