About this Event
Hi-Fi Night School Year Three - Global Studies
Join us June 18th as Global Studies continues with its second session, exploring music and cultures navigating periods of complexity and change. Set within our dedicated listening space, each gathering invites audiences to engage with music not just as sound, but as story, history, and shared human experience.
This month, we're honored to welcome Scott Dudelson, a lifelong record collector, acclaimed music photographer, and documentarian of contemporary music culture. Focusing on the United States, Scott will guide us through a personal exploration of American music, sharing sounds and stories that reflect the country's complexity, contradictions, creativity, and enduring cultural influence. As always, proceeds from the evening will benefit local school’s music programs.
Session Two - U.S.A. featuring Scott Dudelson
For our next Global Studies session, we are honored to welcome Scott Dudelson. Many know Scott as one of the most respected music photographers and commentators in the country, documenting artists and music culture for decades. Others know him through his widely followed vinyl account, @alldayvinyl, his podcast LEGENDS, or as Discogs' 2025 Collector of the Year. Above all, Scott is a lifelong music lover whose relationship with records began as a child digging through dollar bins at Record Surplus in Santa Monica, a passion that grew into a collection of more than 8,000 albums assembled over twenty-five years.
Scott's life was dramatically altered when the Palisades Fire destroyed his home and nearly his entire record collection. In a matter of hours, decades of carefully collected music, memories, and history were reduced to ash. Yet what followed was a remarkable reminder of the power of community. As news of his loss spread, fellow collectors, record labels, artists, and music fans from around the world reached out to help. The outpouring of support became a testament not only to Scott's impact on the music world, but also to the deep connections that music creates between people.
For an evening focused on the United States, there may be no better guide. Scott's story reflects something profoundly American: resilience in the face of loss, the preservation of culture through collecting and storytelling, and the belief that music remains one of our most powerful shared languages. Through records and personal experiences gathered over a lifetime immersed in music, Scott will help us explore the sounds, stories, and communities that continue to shape the American experience.

The System
This session’s system features a bespoke active OJAS system paired with REL’s latest Carbon Black Edition subwoofers for deep, articulate low-end extension. Power comes courtesy of Accuphase Class A and Class A/B amplification, delivering effortless drive, dynamic control, and remarkable tonal purity.
For analog playback, we’re returning to the Accuphase C-2900 preamp and phono stage to ensure both mono and stereo performance are at their finest. We’ll also reintroduce some of our favorite tone creators, Miyajima cartridges from Japan, mounted on our Kuzma Dual Arm XL DC Turntable.
