About this Event
Veterans, Active Duty military, first resonders, and family members (including service animals), please join us on the water at Guist Creek Lake to paddle, fish, heal, and relax. Heroes on the Water provides everything you need for FREE: kayaks, fishing poles, fishing gear, life jackets, even lunch! If applicable, you must purchase your own Kentucky state fishing license. Our programs incorporate structured activities in a pressure-free environment, creating opportunities for community building and personal healing. Our participants receive much-needed camarderie and support through kayak fishing, which has proven cognitive, emotional, and physical benefits. We understand the unique challenges of transitioning from military service to civilian life, often characterized by feelings of isolation and emotional distress. Even those who have been away from the uniform for years still face life events and circumstances that may be stressful. Our programs aim to address these issues, creating a supportive environment where participants can engage with peers who understand their experiences.
