Heritage Rose Garden Volunteer Workday

Please note that the minimum age to volunteer in the Heritage Rose Garden is 14 years old. Adult chaperones are required to attend with individuals age 15 and younger. In addition, we required all individuals under 18 years old to have a guardian read and sign our Volunteer Service Agreement form. You may email an electronic copy to [email protected] prior or bring a hard copy day of the event. The Volunteer Service Agreement is attached.

Join us for a morning of gardening in the Heritage Rose Garden! We will be completing a wide variety of seasonal tasks including planting, weeding, deadheading, mulching, and pruning, among others. No gardening experience is required; we are happy to teach you on site!

We will be meeting at the Heritage Rose Garden Shed to kick off the volunteer service event; the address will take you to the Seymour Street parking lot. From the parking lot, follow the paved path into the park, past the gate and picnic area, and the shed will be on your left.

Volunteers are asked to arrive by 8:30 AM for a contactless sign-in; workday instructions will follow. We provide all necessary tools and have gloves to borrow. If you prefer to use your own pruners, loppers, or gloves, feel free to bring them to the event. The workday will run through 11:30 AM, although it may be shortened due to inclement weather such as rain or extreme heat (seasonal). We are unable to accommodate drop-ins if the event is sold out. School groups and corporate teams must contact the Volunteer Coordinator in advance to schedule events.

In addition, please note that:

• Restrooms are a short walk from the garden and will be available starting at 10:00 AM
• A drinking fountain is onsite, though we highly encourage you to bring a full, reusable water bottle
• Closed-toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting dirty are essential
• We highly recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a hat
• Inclement weather may cancel this event; we will contact you should conditions require the event to be postponed
