Join Rapport Festival, on our pilot of a journey through the vibrant tapestry of London's African diaspora heritage: 'Heritage Roots, Routes & Shoots'.
Immerse yourself in the rich history and cultural heritage of neighbourhoods such as Walworth Road/Kennington Park, Tottenham, Brixton, Notting Hill Gate/Ladbroke Grove, Bloomsbury/Camden.
These unique walking events combine guided tours with photography, where you'll capture the essence of historic locations using your digital or mobile phone camera. Tours are the creation of accomplished African diaspora tour guides, each walk will unveil hidden stories, landmarks, and community legacies waiting to be discovered.
You’ll take photographs as you stroll. Some of your photos won't just remain memories – they may become part of an exhibition in Brixton, allowing you to share your perspective and contribute to the collective narrative of our dynamic neighbourhoods.

Tour Guide
S I Martin specialises in the field of Black British history and literature, working with museums, archives, and the education sector to bring diverse histories to wider audiences. He has published six books of historical fiction and non-fiction for adult and teenage readers.
He founded the 500 Years of Black London walks nearly 20 years ago in response to the low profile given to the Black historical presence on the UK capital's streets. S I Martin has consistently encouraged and championed the provision of plaques, street names and street furniture to this end.
He has worked with and for the Black Cultural Archives, National Maritime Museum, the V&A, Tate Britain, London Metropolitan Archives, National Portrait Gallery, Horniman Museum, The National Archives, RAF Museum, Wellcome Trust and many others.
