Donation only event!
Step back in time and explore one of West Orange’s most historic resting places during our guided Harris Cemetery Walk. This meaningful afternoon invites guests to discover the stories, legacies, and lives that helped shape our community.
With 235 memorials throughout the cemetery, Harris Cemetery holds generations of local history—including its earliest known burial, Edwin Berwick (1836–1850), a young life remembered even without a marked grave.
The first recorded burials in the cemetery tell the story of the prominent Berwick family, whose legacy is deeply rooted in the area:
Edwin Berwick (1836–1850)
Joseph Berwick (1821–1850), Veteran
Nancy Miriam Faulk Berwick (1816–1855)
Thomas Berwick V (1819–1855)
Josephine Genevieve LeJeune Berwick (1798–1856)
As you walk the grounds, you’ll gain insight into early settlers, family histories, and the evolution of West Orange through the lives commemorated here.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a lover of local heritage, or simply curious about the stories beneath your feet, this experience offers a unique and reflective journey into the past.
Join us for an afternoon of history, remembrance, and discovery.
