Start off the fall with a trip to the farm! Join us for Heritage Fest at Schumacher Farm Park to learn what it was like to be a kid living on a farm 100 years ago. Pet goats and donkeys, cuddle with rabbits, feed the chickens and horses, and learn to milk a cow. Win prizes by playing old fashioned games like sack races, musical chairs, and hoop racing. Take a wagon ride and eat fresh corn on the cob. Try out the woodworking tools, see antiques in the farmhouse, check out the antique tractors, make ice cream, churn butter, press apple cider, and more. With over 30 hands-on activities, this event is fun for the whole family. Most attendees are young families with school-age children, but many older adults also attend, recalling memories from their own youth or their parents. Concessions will be available or purchase.
All proceeds go toward the Friends of Schumacher Farm for projects like prairie restoration, educational workshops, community events, and much more. Info here: https://schumacherfarmpark.org/heritage-fest
Heritage Fest is only possible thanks to the many dynamic volunteers that bring it to life. We have many unique volunteer roles that need to be filled including:
wagon loaders
children's games attendants
corn sheller operator
These roles are in addition to the more standard roles like admissions and parking attendants. We are confident there is a spot that's perfect for you!
