About this Event
This session is for children, parents and grandparents looking for an insightful and heart warming session featuring a reading - plus hands on activities celebrating Tasmanian Aboriginal culture!
Here On Sea Country, launched in 2024, is a bright and joyful picture book that invites families to explore Palawa culture together. Through stories of shell necklace making, muttonbirding, basket weaving and caring for sea Country, children can discover the beauty of everyday traditions. Created with Elder Aunty Verna Nichols, Palawa authors Kylie Dickson, Leanne Pelikan, Christina Schleich, Nicole Smith and talented students from Flinders Island and Cape Barren Island schools, this special book shares the deep connection between people, land, and sea - and the magic of passing knowledge from one generation to the next.
