Here Among the EvergreensAs Advent approaches, Strata Vocal Ensemble presents a program to embrace winter’s eve. The concert features John Rutter’s cycle “When Icicles Hang,” with words by Campion, Shakespeare, and anon., where we are joined by harpist Andrew Chan and flautist Sara Traficante. We will also sing “Exultate Justi in Domino” by Italian composer, teacher, and Franciscan friar Lodovico Viadana and Scarlatti’s beautiful “Ad te, Domine levavi.” Two beautiful settings of the Magnificat, by Andrea Gabrieli and C. V. Stanford, are also on the program, along with the young Canadian composer Emile Deedes-Vincke’s “Winter.” Come and let your hearts be warmed by song as we usher in the Advent season!
