Forage, grow, observe, taste, make & feel!
About this Event
Welcome to Herbology Home Ed - introducing wild hearted kids to awesome edible and medicinal plants led by herbalist Nicola Fenton, of Fenton's Herbology.
We'll be meeting monthly, on the first Friday of the month within the beautiful Stamford Community Orchard. This group is suitable for ages 4+.
Herbology Home Ed December!
We'll be exploring the hedgerows to see what's happening around them within winter, discovering what we can harvest and making a winter rosehip oxymel to take home with you! Stay warm with a seasonal hot toddy (kid friendly!), scoff some cake and chat with other like minded wild hearted friends!
What is Herbology Home Ed all about...?
We'll be foraging! Let's get kids knowing what plants they are passing by, and learning how to harvest them and use them! Kids will become confident at what is safe to touch, sniff and nibble - and some of the do's and don't's that go with it!
We'll be growing! Kids will grow their own herbs so they can learn what it takes to take care of our plant friends to help them grow - and then be rewarded with awesome tasting plants so they can make their own cups of herbal teas!
We'll be observing! The key to really learning about plants is to observe them and using our senses to get to know them, and slowing down - a very special skill for kids (and grown ups!) to practice!
We'll be tasting! Throughout the seasons we'll be tasting loads of different plants - from a nibble of them when they are freshly picked - to devouring them in cakes, different bakes and drinks!
And along the way we'll be making things from plants and the nature around us!
