About this Event

Plant Kin: A Wholesome Introduction to Herbalism & Earth-Based Self-Care

Step into a gentle, grounding space where curiosity is nurtured and connection to the green world blossoms. Plant Kin is a four-part, beginner-friendly herbalism series designed to help you cultivate confidence, intimacy, and agency in your relationship with plants and personal wellness. No prior experience is needed—just a sense of wonder and a willingness to learn.

Each 3-hour session (9am–12pm) offers hands-on experience, seasonal insight, and a practical introduction to eight local medicinal plants—revealed during class—along with the traditional knowledge and skills to begin building your own green Ph*rm*cy. You’ll learn to identify, grow, and harvest herbs with reverence, while creating remedies that nourish body and spirit


Module 4: Tincture Making & Immune Support

Theme: Supporting your immune system year-round

What You’ll Learn:
Meet two herbs traditionally used for cold, flu, and respiratory support
Explore the immune system through an herbal lens, including prevention and early intervention
Learn the difference between folk and ratio-based tincture methods
Discuss solvent types (alcohol, vinegar, glycerin)
Hands-On Practice:
Make your own immune-boosting tincture
Plants Covered: Revealed in class—two powerful herbs for immune strengthening and respiratory care
Materia Medica: Includes energetics, dosage, safety, and integration into seasonal routines


Each module includes:

A deep dive into two medicinal plants
A hands-on folk medicine-making skill (teas, salves, tinctures, or tonics)
Herbal energetics, ethical wildcrafting, and reciprocal connection with the land
A comprehensive Materia Medica entry for each plant

Who it's for:This series is for the curious, the wellness seekers, and the plant lovers—those ready to feel empowered in caring for themselves and their communities with simple, powerful tools from the earth.

Taught by:Lorry-Ann – A community herbalist trained at VCIH and production manager at Farm Craft

Meg – A world-traveling, intuitive herbalist and horticulture therapist with a deep, embodied wisdom of plant medicine
