Audition Info: Auditions for Shakespeare in the Park’s Henry IV, Part 1 will be held on Monday, August 17 & Tuesday, August 18 at 7 PM. Auditions will take place at GROW.
Hollie Sherrill is the Director. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. All Shakespeare-loving actors, anyone on the fence, and Shakespeare “virgins” are encouraged to audition! The director is looking for cast members ages 15-78.
The Green Room Community Theatre is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. As such, we encourage performers of all races and ethnicities, gender identities, sexualities, abilities, and ages, to attend every audition.
You must be available for all performances. Please bring your list of rehearsal conflicts with you. You MUST be able to attend all of tech week (the week before the show opens) unless, in rare emergency cases, an exception is approved before being cast by the director.

Character Breakdown:
King Henry IV
Suggested Age/Type: Male, 50s-70s
The weary King of England, burdened by rebellion and disappointed in his son Prince Hal. Intelligent, authoritative, and politically shrewd, he struggles to maintain stability within the kingdom and his own family.
Prince Hal
Suggested Age/Type: Male, late teens-30s
The prince of Wales and heir to the throne. Clever, charismatic, and rebellious, Hal spends his time in taverns with commoners while secretly preparing to become the leader his father hopes for. A dynamic coming-of-age role.
Sir John Falstaff
Suggested Age/Type: Male, 40s-70s
A larger-than-life knight known for his wit, humor, cowardice, and love of excess. Falstaff serves as both comic relief and a complicated father figure to Hal. Requires strong comedic timing and commanding stage presence.
Hotspur (Henry Percy)
Suggested Age/Type: Male, 20s-40s
A fiery and honorable young nobleman leading a rebellion against King Henry. Brave, impulsive, and intensely driven, Hotspur serves as a foil to Prince Hal.
Earl of Northumberland

Hotspur’s father and a powerful nobleman involved in the growing rebellion against the king.
Worcester

Hotspur’s uncle. Strategic, politically calculating, and deeply involved in organizing the rebellion.
Lady Percy (Kate)

Hotspur’s spirited and intelligent wife. She deeply loves her husband and challenges him with humor and passion.
Lady Mortimer
Suggested Age/Type: Female, 20s-40s
Wife of Mortimer. A gentle and romantic role with opportunities for emotional connection and musicality.

One of Hal’s closest companions in the tavern world. Mischievous, clever, and playful.

A drinking companion of Falstaff. Comic and rough around the edges.
