Helping Hearts Fylde is proud to provide this free February half-term STEM & Literacy event, designed to inspire curiosity, confidence, and creativity in children through interactive learning and play.

The event links into the national focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, while maintaining a strong emphasis on literacy skills, including listening, communication, following instructions, and storytelling.

1. Welcome & Introduction to STEM
Children will be welcomed, introduced to STEM, and divided into Red and Blue teams with matching coloured aprons, followed by a fun game of STEM Simon Says.

2. Build-a-Bridge Challenge
Children will work in teams to design and build a bridge using limited materials, testing how much weight it can hold.
Younger children will enjoy building and knocking down towers using wooden bricks.

3. Coding Without Computers
Children will “program” a human robot through a floor maze using arrow cards and step-by-step instructions.
Younger children will take part in maze-themed crafts.

4. Brain Break
A fun True or False game featuring interesting science facts.

5. Mad Science Lab
Children will watch an exciting volcano reaction using baking soda and vinegar.
Younger children will enjoy a STEM-themed story session.

6. Showcase & Celebration 🙌
We’ll finish by celebrating everyone’s creativity and teamwork.
