Two musicians, who often make music together, on this evening will make music apart, together. Expect a deft and eclectic performance of guitar repertoire from Darren Young, and a kinetic set of synthetic songwriting from Hello Moth.Hello Moth creates abstract synth-pop by night, ambient explosions by day. Their live show has taken them across Canada, into the USA, and overseas to the UK and 5 European countries. Recognized by CBC as “the kind of innovative music-making that keeps the future of Canadian music looking bright,” Moth’s style blends electronic tones with folk influences to create a sound somewhere between soil and sky.
Multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound designer, music director, and educator Darren Young is an exciting artist with a diverse palette. He has been a featured performer with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, New Music Edmonton, New Works Calgary, Kensington Sinfonia, Instrumental Society of Calgary, and Theatre Calgary. Darren recently composed music for the dance film “Odeon”, choreographed by Meghann Michalsky, which was released this Summer and will appear at Calgary International Film Festival 2024.
