π Heidi Anastasia π
Heidi started learning Brazilian Zouk in Sydney in 2010. Her passion motivated her to travel to Europe to attend multiple Zouk Congresses and events to learn from international instructors in her first year as a student. She started teaching as an assistant instructor for Rio Zouk Sydney alongside Claudio Gomes, then teaching under her own school Zouk Ink in 2014. She also ran the Zouk syllabus at A Touch of Salsa dance studio from 2015 to 2022. She co-founded and operated Zouk Unity Sydney dance school from 2019 to 2025 with Sunny Wo, Sara Lim and Jeffrey Zhou.
Heidi is a community leader and major contributor to the development of the Brazilian Zouk scene in Sydney. She hosts Sydneyβs largest and longest running weekly social - Friday Zouk Practice - running weekly since 2012, and also running various events such as International Zouk Flash Mobs, and coordinating several International Artist weekender events in Sydney. She has also created several concept courses - Qi Zouk, Zouk Lab, reversed role classes (Leaders & Followers) as well as leading the community on issues around safety and consent by creating a publicly available Consent and Code of Conduct policy and Incident Reporting form for her events in 2023 and onwards.
Heidi's passions revolve around an unrelenting excellence in technique, safety and care, and holding space for the most honest version of ourselves to be allowed to be expressed on the dancefloor.
πΊ Sunny Wo πΊ
Sunny started learning Zouk in Sydney in 2012. He is an experienced Brazilian Zouk dancer who has a strong passion for social dancing and teaching. Since 2014, he has taught in over 5 different schools including to 2021, A Touch of Salsa 2015 to 2021, and co-founded and operated Zouk Unity Sydney dance school from 2019 to 2025 with Heidi Anastasia, Sara Lim and Jeffrey Zhou.
Sunny has accumulated thousands of hours of teaching experience in the past 12 years, in teaching weekly classes, specialised workshops, and created 8 team choreography performances. He is also a classically trained Pianist. His expertise in teaching lies in making the complex, simple. Making complex movements easy to understand, and break down into digestible and trainable pieces. While at the same time finding the complexities in the simple - he loves uncovering and sharing gems in fundamentals concepts that can make the biggest difference to your dance.
Sunny's passion and vision is to share his love of Brazilian Zouk. He loves to nerd out on the technicalities of technique, while at the same time understanding that music and dance are expressions of the soul, and that the beauty in partner dance reflects our shared human desires to express and connect.
