A brand-new production for Vita Nova, Heath is a departure from their usual theatre in education work, but one that still explores issues around addiction.
Taking inspiration from Shakespeare’s King Lear and the premise of losing everything to discover the truth about oneself, Heath echoes Lear’s trauma-induced on this occasion by addiction, hitting rock bottom and the subsequent recognition of the induced insanity from substance abuse.
Funded by Arts Council England, the 60-minute play features choreography from dance company Fallen Angels and an accompanying score by Dorset-based composer and musician Stefan Defilet.
