Thelma & Louise follows two best friends — Thelma (Geena Davis), a sheltered housewife with a controlling husband, and Louise (Susan Sarandon), a waitress with a tough exterior — as they leave for a simple weekend getaway. But things spiral quickly when a night out leads to a violent encounter. Fearing no one will believe their side of the story, the two flee across the American Southwest with the cops hot on their trail.
