THE POLTERGEIST SHOP 👻
This is a small interment venue. We will only be taking 8 guests to this event.
The property at 162 High Street in Bloxwich has a long and storied past. The earliest known residents were the Sargeant family. James Sargeant, a tailor by trade, opened his shop on the ground floor during the Victorian era. In 1875, he moved into the premises with his wife, Jane, and their two sons, Vincent and Alfred. The family lived in the rooms above the shop, where they led a modest but productive life.
Directly across from 162 High Street stands All Saints Church, one of the most historically significant landmarks in Bloxwich. The church grounds are home to The Preacher’s Cross, believed to be the oldest structure in the area. This ancient preaching cross is mentioned in the Domesday Book, marking it as a site of Christian worship for nearly a thousand years.
The churchyard holds a long and somber history. From the 1200s to the 1700s, it served as the final resting place for much of the local community. Over time, the graveyard became overcrowded, leading to the establishment of a new burial site on nearby farmland. This land eventually became Field Road, now home to Bloxwich Cemetery, which continues the town’s burial tradition. The High Street itself has witnessed its share of tragedy. One of the earliest recorded deaths dates back to the early 1700s, when a young boy was fatally struck by a horse and cart outside The George Pub, a building now operating as a hardware store. Sadly, the area has continued to see violence well into modern times. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, incidents of murder, stabbings, and shootings have taken place on or near the High Street, a stark contrast to its quieter, more community-focused past.
Over the years, staff working within the walls of 162 High Street have reported a series of unexplained and unsettling phenomena. Objects are frequently found pushed over without reason. Mysterious knocks and bangs echo throughout the building—often when no one else is present. Flickering lights, cold spots, and the feeling of being watched have become disturbingly common.
Even more chilling are the accounts of dark shadows, seen darting through rooms or lingering just out of sight. Some witnesses describe them as human-like figures—blacker than the dark itself—watching silently from corners or doorways.
Perhaps most telling is the behavior of the resident dog, known for becoming visibly distressed, growling at empty rooms, or refusing to enter certain areas altogether. Animals, it’s said, are more attuned to the unseen—and whatever lurks in 162 seems to deeply disturb even them.
There is a consensus among many who’ve spent time inside: something is wrong here. Whatever presence remains in this building, it is not friendly, and certainly not for the faint of heart. Some believe it is tied to the building’s long, layered history—the sorrow, loss, and trauma absorbed into its very foundations. Others suggest something darker hides within the walls—something truly evil.
