About this Event
Heart Space is a healing circle that provides a space for Black folks to decompress and connect. This special Heart Space Healing Circle in Los Angeles is all about Black maternal health and holding space for the emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of Black birthing people and the folks who show up for them. We’re coming together to talk honestly about birth, parenting, loss, lived experience, and the real impact of systems that don’t always protect us, while lifting up the ways our communities have always known how to care for each other. We’re inviting mamas, birthing people, dad doulas, partners, birth workers, and the whole support squad to pull up, build, and share responsibility for keeping Black families safe and supported. Expect grounding practices, real conversation, and collective wisdom to help us show up with more tenderness, accountability, and love for our people.

About the venue: Founded by Allegra Hill and Kimberly Durdin, Kindred Space LA was born in 2018 in response to the black maternity health crisis affecting black birthing people in this country. The Kindred Space LA Birthing Center was born in 2020. Today, Kindred Space LA offers in-clinic births, home births, support groups, sessions with mental health professionals, and collaborative care with ob-gyns and midwives who work in hospitals. In addition to the clinic, the business has a nonprofit educational branch that trains future midwives.

We encourage our community to be mindful of engaging in-person events with safety and communal responsibility in mind. We recognize that the pandemic is not over and many members of our community are immunocompromised. We strongly encourage the use of masks. Please do not attend the event if you are feeling ill. COVID tests and face masks will be available on site.

Complimentary tickets - are for our community members who frankly just ain't got it but are ready and willing to be in the space with others. There's a limited amount and once claimed they are complete for the event.
