Swansea is proud to announce it will host the inaugural Heart of the Dragon / Calon y Ddraig Bocs Cwpan, a premier amateur boxing tournament, from July 17th to 19th, 2026. The historic event will take place at the state-of-the-art LC2 Swansea leisure center, situated in the heart of the SA1 waterfront development.This landmark tournament aims to celebrate Swansea's rich and diverse heritage, drawing inspiration from the city's industrious past – from the resilient spirit of its coal miners to the global impact of its copper works. Furthermore, the event pays homage to one of Wales' most celebrated literary figures, Dylan Thomas, embedding a cultural depth unique to this competition.
"The Heart of the Dragon Box Cup is more than just a boxing tournament; it’s a tribute to the very fabric of Swansea," says the West Division Amateur Boxing. We envision an event that not only showcases incredible boxing talent from across the region but also honours the men and women who built this city, whose grit and determination laid the foundation for our community. Just as Dylan Thomas found poetry in the everyday, we believe there is powerful drama and dedication to be found in the boxing ring."
The three-day event will bring together amateur boxers from various clubs and regions, all vying for the esteemed title of "Heart Of The Dragon" winner. Spectators can anticipate a tournament of epic proportions, filled with high-calibre bouts, sportsmanship, and an electrifying atmosphere that embodies the Welsh fighting spirit.
