About this Event
Come and experience music in a brand new way. Using the concepts of mindfulness, sensory experiences, and communal gathering, you will be surrounded by music presented in a fresh and innovative way.
Lolade, a native of Nigeria, is a vocalist, songwriter, and music educator currently based in Houston, Texas. Growing up in a household with an appreciation for music and having a strong background in music theory, vocal performance, and piano laid the foundation for Lolade's musical approach and style. Lolade’s inspirations cross genres, continents, and span decades. She credits her Afro-Folk-Soul stylings to her traditional Nigerian roots, spending formative years in Philadelphia's vibrant and soulful music scene, and immersing herself in Houston's global creative landscape. She brings to her music a traditional sound and a contemporary feel and all of this is what makes her music so unique. Lolade has headlined her own live shows, featured in countless musical festivals, and performed in cultural events and notable venues in Houston and around the country. Lolade has been the vocalist for the acclaimed Rotimi and the Afrophonik Crew, established by one of Femi Kuti's primary trumpet players. Lolade has performed for the Nigerian national football team, for a TedX conference right here in Houston, and is a background vocalist for the popular Nigerian artists Adekunle Gold and Simi. Her music was featured on NPR during an in-studio performance and interview in 2023. Lolade has released several singles and two EPs, most recently "Stories: Lolade Live from Piano Room 5" which is a video album that zones in on her singer-songwriter and soulful sound. Lolade's music can be found on Youtube, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and everywhere music is sold and streamed.
