About this Event
Are you interested in making a difference in your community? Do you like connecting with others and helping them learn? Are you passionate about health and wellness promotion?
On Lok 30th Street Senior Center is offering free training for all those who are interested in becoming Health Facilitators. As a Health Facilitator, you will be able to co-lead evidence-based health education workshops developed by Stanford’s Self-Management Resource Center. The small group workshops meet for two hours each week for six weeks and are meant to provide information to older adults about how to manage chronic diseases and improve their quality of life.
On Lok’s programs are funded by the Department of Disability and Aging Services, and trained leaders will need to facilitate workshops in English, Spanish or Cantonese. This training is offered at no cost to facilitators, since On Lok will cover certification fees that will enable the facilitator to teach at least two workshops per year.
Those interested will need to attend a four-day training course at On Lok 30th Street. The candidates who successfully complete the course will be able to teach workshops at various locations throughout San Francisco County as independent contractors for On Lok. On Lok will be in charge of planning all workshops around the different partner organizations and Health Facilitator’s availability.
The four-day training course will be held at On Lok, 225 30th St 3rd floor, San Francisco, CA 94131 on Thursdays and Fridays:
