Participant Eligibility - The program is intended for prediabetic adults in NYC ages 18+ at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Our year-long program engages participants in 25 sessions and focuses on small, lifestyle goals. The curriculum is CDC-approved and is part of the CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program. Note: The program is only for individuals who live in New York City (NYC) and this is an introductory info session

What Have Our Members Achieved?

  • 8 out of 9 participants lost weight since the start of the program (89%)
  • 6 of the 8 have lost 5% or more of their starting weight (75%)
  • The highest weight loss reached was 16%
  • Significant weight loss was observed at the 6-month mark.
  • All 8 participants were able to maintain their weight loss until the end of the program

Program Information

  • Program one year in length – weekly sessions for the first 6 months, One session every other week for the next 6 months.
  • The program will focus on proper nutrition, activity, coping with stress, sleep hygiene, overcoming challenges, and staying accountable for changes.
  • Sessions held by Registered Dietitian and Certified Lifestyle Coach

Program Goals:

  • Prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes onset
  • Weight loss should be accomplished in the first 6 months.
  • Reach 150 minutes of physical activity per week in the first 6 months.
  • Reduce A1c (blood sugar level) by 0.2 points.
  • Participants will be responsible for tracking and reporting weight, minutes of activity, and A1c changes.
