Healing the Roots: Reshaping from whiteness towards collective liberation

The worldview of whiteness trains us to show up, even in efforts toward racial justice, in ways that do harm to the people and communities in our lives, as well as ourselves. 

This somatics-based series invites participants to recognize characteristics of whiteness – individualism, superiority and inferiority, the illusion of scarcity, and defensiveness. In a deeply relational, cohort-based model, we then practice new ways of being that are grounded in interdependence, dignity, abundance and openness, and together learn how to move differently in the name of liberation.

Our approach sits somewhere between tender reflection work, rigorous political education, and healing in community. Join this space to listen, learn, and practice acting differently in our bodies and from our bodies so that we can heal ourselves and move with alignment for social and racial justice.

We welcome folks with a variety of identities: The series is designed for people who identify as white, have been conditioned as and/or privileged as white, as well as folks with complex identities: eg, bi-racial and multi-racial people, people of color with white adoptive parents and/or who grew up in culturally white communities, or any other constellation that calls you into this deeply personal work. We welcome folks of all intersecting identities: economic status, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity, national origin, dis/ability, age and more. 

COVID protocol: We will ask attendees to take a rapid test the night before or morning of each workshop.  Mask wearing will not be mandatory but will be supported.  We will make sure to have tests and masks available on site.  If this is not sufficient protection for you, we encourage you to sign up for the virtual offering.

Cost: The cost for this offering is $75.00 per person to cover catering for all three days. Thanks to the generosity of the Festival Center, we are able to have use of the space free of charge. During the series, we will make a zero-pressure invitation to make a donation, if you feel moved, to support our facilitation team as well as a companion offering for communities of color. We don't want money to be an obstacle to attendance; if $75.00 is too much for you, just let us know.
