About this Event
For some, the journey to motherhood is filled with joy, hope, and excitement for the mother, baby, and everyone involved. However, statistically, Black mothers often face significant challenges when bringing new life into the world and caring for themselves afterward. In recognition of Black Maternal Health Week (April 11th–17th), the Rho Omicron Omega and Chi Omicron Omega chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are hosting an informative panel discussion. This event will feature a diverse group of experts and patient advocates who will explore the factors contributing to the alarming disparities in Black Maternal Health. Through open and honest dialogue, our panelists will work to raise awareness, foster understanding, and inspire action toward achieving maternal health equity for all.
Join us on April 12, 2025, for an engaging conversation with a powerhouse panel as we discuss the Black Maternal Health crisis and how we can collectively work toward solutions. Panelists include:
- Alma Allen, TX House of Representative, co-author of the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act
- Ron Reynolds, TX State Representative
- Dr. Celeste Brown, MD OB/GYN, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine
- Aneika Pruitt, MA, LPC-S, PMH-C, Perinatal Mental Health
