About this Event
Mental health issues affect nearly half of the population at some point and World Mental Health Day provides a chance to talk about our mental health in general, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to talk about things and get help if you are struggling. There is clear evidence of a positive connection between art and mental health and artistic activities such as sculpting, painting, or drawing are known to lower stress levels and promote mental calmness.
Artists Hannah Ayre and Khadea Santi will lead participants through a calm and relaxing process of creating three small portrait heads in clay in the Fruitmarket Studio. During the workshops the participants will also have the opportunity to view the Heads Up! Exhibition in the Fruitmarket Warehouse, which brings together over 1000 ceramic heads, which were made in response to the Fruitmarket Exhibition Daniel Silver: Looking.
