About this Event
The 90 voices of City Chorus, with professional soloists and orchestra, give a performance of the wonderful Requiem by Michael Haydn. When this setting was premiered in 1772, a local teenager called Mozart was in the audience, and it's fascinating to see ideas and influences on Mozart's own Requiem nearly two decades later. It's an unjustly neglected work, we feel, and we'd love to share this exciting music with you!
Our programme also features the well-loved classic, Vivaldi's Gloria. These two eighteenth-century compositions are perfectly complemented by the glorious acoustic and architecture of St Andrew's Holborn.
